Inspired by the architecture of Venetian churches, the collection 'An Alternative History' by French designers Oud is a testament to this universe and the savoir-faire that survived through the ages. Made from solid oak and linden, the magnificent Ai Frari console table has been lacquered to a brilliant bordeaux finish. Each successive layer of lacquer is meticulously applied, dried and polished by a skilled French artisan. In the 18th century, this precise and laborious technique was commonly employed by Venetian artisans, as the fruit of cultural exchanges between Europe and the far East.
Founded by architects Marie-Sarah Burckel and Josselin Berteloot in 2018, Oud is a Parisian-based architecture and design studio. With formative experiences in Venice and Paris, the duo constantly explore the link between the past and present in their work. Lauréats of the Grand Prix d’architecture del’Académie des Beaux-Arts in 2016 and Prix André Arfvidson.
