Modern Metier x Rudy Guénaire

Tropic of Capricorn, Modern Metier’s new edition, signed by designer Rudy Guénaire.

For Modern Metier's second collection, Tropic of Capricorn, the design house collaborates with French designer Rudy Guénaire, founder of the Nightflight studio. Inspired by the curved lines and organic forms of Brazilian and Californian modernism, this seven-piece series celebrates the golden age of travel and aviation, an era characterised by discovery and innovation. From the designer’s pencil, dark wood, polished metal and silhouettes drawn from tropical flora come together to create a sun-drenched world that invites escape.

Meet the designer

Passionate about architecture and driven by a search for timeless beauty, Rudy Guénaire founded Nightflight, his interior design studio, in 2024. Guénaire sketches every project by hand rather than on a computer, striving to create something new the old-fashioned way. His work is rooted in storytelling and designs that speak clearly and effortlessly, drawing on philosophy, poetry, primitive art, and the avant-garde. He stays away from fast design and superficial décor, the kind that fades as quickly as it appears. In addition to design, Guénaire’s practice spans interior design for private residences, retail spaces, bars, offices and restaurants.
