The Keren stoneware sculpture by artist Lucia Mondadori reveals the tensions between the feminine and the masculine. Formed from deep brown chamotte clay, Mondadori sands down the sculpture to reveal the specks of natural stone that lie underneath. The sculpture’s undulating body is finished with a horn, a symbolic shape representing fertility.

Brazilian artist Lucia Mondadori explores the themes of bodily shapes through her sculptural vessels. From her Paris atelier, Mondadori began exploring the curves of the female form through her undulating Lilith vessels. Her Aisha series plays with the concept of totems, balancing primitive shapes and abstract forms. Working with chamotte clay, each of her pieces is slowly formed by hand, with subtle variations in angles and proportions to create a unique object every time.
