Poolhouse Courbevoie

The story

This sweeping project comprised of a poolhouse, a 180m² terrace and a large 12x6m swimming pool, located on the 11th floor of an apartment block. With views on the skyscrapers of La Défense on the outskirts of Paris, the apartment was originally part of a condominium that was later detatched and sold to a private client. A completely atypical space with incredible luminosity and high ceilings featuring vaulted arches that reach soaring heights of 4m.

The project boils down to a few key architectural choices including the creation of a mezzanine to exploit the natural height of the space, which increased the ooverall surface area of the apartment and created an additional area where one can relax and sleep. The new plans centered the circulation around the staircase, which was reinforced by a uniform treatment of the waxed concrete floor. The size of the bathroom was decreased in favor of the living areas. Combined with the the design of made to measure elements in wood and metal, architect QSA Quentin Sommervogel has created a very atypical and outstanding poolhouse.
