Artist Lucia Mondadori’s Aisha totem invokes the naiveté of childhood play. Hand-sculpted from white chamotte clay, the Aisha totem is composed of two separate pieces that come together to create a totem structure. Like two pebbles balancing in perfect equilibrium atop the curved base. Mondadori carefully sands down the sculpture to reveal the specks of natural stone that lie underneath.

Brazilian artist Lucia Mondadori explores the themes of bodily shapes through her sculptural vessels. From her Paris atelier, Mondadori began exploring the curves of the female form through her undulating Lilith vessels. Her Aisha series plays with the concept of totems, balancing primitive shapes and abstract forms. Working with chamotte clay, each of her pieces is slowly formed by hand, with subtle variations in angles and proportions to create a unique object every time.
